How to find The Theatre Lab in Connolly’s Building, UCC

 

The Theatre Lab at University College Cork is located off-campus in the Connolly Building, which is approximately a 3-minutes walk from the University’s Main Gate in the direction of the city centre.

The Connolly Buildings are situated between the Western Road and the Dyke Parade.

You can approach along Western Road (it’s a one-way road heading west towards the Main Gate of UCC from the city centre) or along Dyke Parade ( which is a one-way road heading to the city centre.

There is some on-street parking on Western Road and on both sides of Dyke Parade (2-hour parking disc required until 6.30pm).

The access into the courtyard of the complex of buildings from the Western Road is through a black wrought-iron pedestrian gate directly across from the entrance to the River Lee Hotel. To the right of this gate is an official sign with a yellow UCC crest and an arrow pointing you to the Drama Lab.

Access from the Dyke Parade is through a gate beside the Granary Theatre (painted in a red-brick colour) and is directly across from the new Presentation Secondary School.

Walk into the courtyard from either Western Road or Dyke Parade. Look out for a sign with a yellow UCC crest and Theatre Lab. There is also a grey sign “UCC Planning and Sustainable Development” above the same purple painted double door.

Open this purple painted double doors and you are facing a wide staircase with light blue linoleum. Follow up 2 flights of stairs and at the top there is a blue painted double door which has a sign “Drama Lab” and an arrow pointing to the right. Open this door and you see a glass Display Unit with photos and posters of Drama and Theatre Studies. Turn right here and take 4 steps then turn left into the Drama Lab.

There is a sign: Please remove your shoes”. Walk in and leave your shoes on the left as you come into the room.

Toilets : from inside the wide blue stairs turn left and follow a sign “Planning and Sustainable Development” down a dark grey carpeted corridor and at end of corridor you find a peach painted staircase which brings you down to the ground floor where the toilets are.
