ABOUT
The aim of this symposium is to share and soak-in the variety and possibilities of each others' practices and to support the development of dialogue and community. We held a similar event in 2012 and felt it high time to organize ourselves again and develop the burgeoning communities and possibilities of evolving practice in a range of directions while also acknowledging the rich and varied histories, influences and flows.
The proposed focus is on Somatic Movement Education with an attention on how somatic practices are or might be integrated into all levels of educational settings in curricular, extra-curricular developments alongside research-based and creative approaches. However, this may be something to discuss in and around our gathering, and or planning for a next meeting. The gathering this May then, is first and foremost a meeting and sharing and developing this moving dialogue. It is also a way to pool resources across fields and disciplines with a longer term goal to develop further salons, to share and develop links with international practitioners alongside developing the particularities of somatic practice and its applications in Ireland.
